I often hear people saying, "I'm so stressed out. I need to do something to manage my stress level." When was the last time you felt stressed out? Are you feeling it right now?

Workplace stress is causing havoc in people's lives. Here are a few stats from Zippia.com
In the current environment, 83% of US workers are suffering from work-related stress.
About one million Americans miss work every day because of stress.
63% of US workers report they are ready to quit their job to avoid work-related stress.
According to HealthAdvocate, the cost of stressed employees to businesses is estimated between $200 - $300 billion a year. With workplace stress at all time highs, why are we still trying to manage something we don't want? Everywhere you turn there is another "stress management" program. Why are we investing time, money and resources to manage something that is killing us. This is insanity.
How about we STOP managing stress and instead, focus on removing stress. With some conscious effort we can put our energy into managing our internal environment and the stress will melt away. When we manage stress, we are putting our energy into having more stress. All our thinking, planning and efforting to manage something we don't want is not productive. By shifting our
consciousness away from managing and on to reducing, we can replace stress with an internal state of calm, ease and peace. Then, no matter what we experience in the external environment, we can maintain our composure and well-being.
Here are eight ways to consciously create a calm, peaceful internal environment with less stress.

1) Take micro breaks throughout the day
Micro breaks are less than 5 minutes. This can be as simple as getting up from your work station and taking a short walk. Maybe up and down a few flights of stairs, or outside and round the block. It could be pausing to talk with a work colleague about non-work topics. These micro breaks change your perspective and reduce stress.
2) Move your body and stretch frequently
We've all heard how important stretching is yet we seldom find ourselves doing it. This can be as easy as grabbing your laptop and sitting down on the floor where it's easy to start stretching, even while you are working. Or you can do the opposite and stand up to stretch right in your workspace. Just few minutes goes a long way to reducing your stress.
3) Practice conscious breathing
This is an incredibly easy way to reduce your stress. Simply learn and practice a simple breathing technique. Even just sitting still and consciously breathing slowly through your nose for 3 minutes will create a change you can feel. There are hundreds of simple techniques. You can find a few good ones here.
4) Reduce time spent with toxic people
We've all had experiences where if encounter someone at work who is overly negative and complains way too much. It's unfortunate, but they do still exist and they can easily cause you undo stress in your workday. If you make a conscious choice to simply reduce the amount of time you spend by exiting conversations, declining invitations and avoiding time spent with these types of people, your world will change for the better.
5) Walk barefoot on the earth when weather permits
Depending on where you live, this may be more challenging. If you don't yeet know about the benefits of grounding to reduce stress, I highly recommend you investigate. It's quite simple, just put your bare feet on the earth directly without shoes and socks. Maybe you can get your lunch to go, find a park or area with some grass, take your shoes and socks off and eat your lunch with your bare feet on the ground.
6) Meditate
Most people have heard of meditation and know about the benefits of the practice, yet few find themselves as regular meditators. The key is to start small with short sessions of just one to three minutes. You can start with a simple method of sitting still with your eyes closed for breathing calmly through your nose. You can do this right at your desk multiple times a day and notice your stress start to melt away.
7) Protect your energy field from energy vampires
This may seem odd at first, but when you realize that we are all energy beings with an electro-magnetic field that surrounds our bodies, you start to feel sense other people's energy. When you are in public places in close contact with other people, you can be affected by their energy fields. You can protect yourself by raising your consciousness and being aware of your energy field. You can consciously intend that your field is protected by a shield of energy by feeling gratitude for all that you have in your life. This simple focus on gratitude can amplify your energy field and protect you from negative forces and other peoples negative emotions.
